The Founder

Fr. Jesuadimai Emmanuel Arul Raj

Rev. Fr. Jesuadimai Emmanuel Arul Raj is the Founder of the Societies of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) and Missionaries of Mary Immaculate (MMI). Ordained an Oblate priest in the year 1979, Rev. Fr. J.E. Arul Raj volunteered to go to Pandaravedu, a place which was considered to be a punishment area in those days. Appointed in 1981 as the Parish Priest of “St. Joseph Mission”-Pandaravedu, he started his zealous service for the poor with a deep love for God. The needs of the people of Pandravedu and the inspiration of God made him start the Society of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) in the year 1984. Our Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) began in a humble way to live the Charism “Loving God and Serving the Poor to be fully human and fully alive”.  God, through the inspiration of Most Rev. Vitorio Pavanello SDB used him as an instrument also to found a Clerical Society of the Missionaries of Mary Immaculate (MMI) in 2000. The Society of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) stood by him in this venture and supported the Father’s Work. Today, both Societies are recognized as Missionary Societies, specially placed under the Congregation for the Evangelization of people in the Vatican, Rome.
