A Historical - Juridical Account of DMI
The Society of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) has its origin in the will of God. The Almighty Father, in his mercy, called Fr. Jesuadimai Emmanuel Arul Raj to be his Priest and later to be the founder of two religious Societies, many Movements, Associations and Institutions. The Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) is an Apostolic Society having its presence in 11 Countries namely India, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Rome, Brazil, Central Africa, Papua New Guinea and Kenya. The Principal house of the Society is in Meerut, India, under the gracious guidance of His Grace Most Rev. Francis Kalist, the Archbishop of Pondicherry & Cuddalore.
The Founder
Rev. Fr. Jesuadimai Emmanuel Arul Raj is the Founder of the Societies of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) and Missionaries of Mary Immaculate (MMI).
The Co-Foundress
Founding Member and the Co-Foundress (Late) Mother Virginammal joined the Society on June 01, 1985 and made her First Profession on April 30, 1988.
Pontifical Status
On September 29, 2023, the Holy Father “has graciously granted… the requested Pontifical status to Daughters of Mary Immaculate”

Our Services
DMIs believe that education alone can liberate people from human bondage and ignorance. Thus educating the children is one of the primary concerns of DMI. The children of the poor, marginalized and less privileged families in our mission are provided with better education facilities.
The Children development programme of the society of DMI was first initiated at Keechalam, which is situated 13 Kilometers from Tirutani in Thiruvallur District. Fr. Arulraj the then Parish Priest of Pandravecu gathered the children in the evening to study and developed the habit of going to school
