The Co-Foundress
(Late) Mother Virginammal DMI
Our Society was started by the sudden inspiration of God in the year 1984 with absolutely nothing in hand. A group of young volunteers under the benevolent guidance of Founder, Fr. J.E. Arul Raj began to live an apostolic life in a small village called Pandaravedu in Tiruttani District of Tamil Nadu, India. Trusting in the providence of God and literally living under a mango tree and a small hut, the founding members began their life and started to be involved in socio – pastoral missions among the poor villagers. One among the Founding members’ worthy of special mention is the Co-Foundress(Late) Mother Virginammal DMI. She joined the Society on 1st June 1985 made her First Profession on 30th April 1988 and her Perpetual Profession on 9th May 1994. She served as the Novice Mistress for Two years from 1993 to 1995, then became the Superior General of the Society. Having served for 2 terms and a little more, she also used the role of the First Managing Trustee of the DMI Foundation (DFT) IN THE YEAR 2009. She served with sound loyalty and absolute faithfulness in the given responsibility until she was called to her heavenly abode on 11th January 2013.
